Thirty people were injured after a CTA blue line train derailed from the tracks as it approached O’Hare International Airport in Chicago, IL. A spokesperson for the Union stated that it is possible that the driver of the train dozed off while driving. The accident occurred in the middle of the night. Had this accident occurred during a busier part of the day, there would have been more serious injuries – possibly fatalities. The train was traveling at such a high rate of speed that it crashed through the barrier that was put in place to stop trains from doing what this one did: jumped the tracks and landed on the escalator taking passengers to and from the airport. Blue line service to the airport has stopped until the investigation into what caused the crash is complete. Passengers hoping to reach the airport via CTA train will be transported from the Rosemont stop to the airport via shuttle bus.

While public transportation in the city is usually a safe and efficient means of travel, things can go terribly wrong. If you or a loved one suffered an injury as a result of this train derailment, call our office. We can be reached around the clock.
